last night, TheEngineer and i were sitting in the living room. i was struggling with my computer (and i WILL NOT ask for help, i need to do this myself if i can) and he's watching some crap on fauxtv. about welfare, and how some women made a career out of popping out babies so they didn't have to work, and some ignorant female made a video and posted it on youtube about you have a kid and then get your apartment and your check. (i promise, this is going somewhere...)
and my COLLEGE EDUCATED, JUST SHORT OF HIS PhD, IS TOPS IN HIS FIELD husband looked at me and INFORMED ME that *most* women, if they were paid a living wage, would sit home and be mothers. i told him that he was ABSOLUTELY WRONG. (which he is)
and this goes back to your Truth, that girls are taught to be demure and self-depreciating, and that Motherhood is the highest calling of all, and MALES BUY INTO THIS SHIT TOO. and when women try to break out of that prison, males are in shock.
YES YES YES buy the great books that women authors write, and tell people that they are GREAT BOOKS. not "great books that a WOMAN WROTE", but GREAT BOOKS. more great books and less drek!!! and women authors...writing is fucking HARD WORK. be proud of your work.
me, i can wind out stories all day long and never falter. but writing? it's fucking past me. i'm a bard, not a writer. :) you authors, go out and kick ass and take names and a hearty "fuck you, goober!" to anyone who tries to say you're "only" anything.
